Community TABA

I volunteered at a side event called Community TABA at the COP 8 convention. The Community Taba is a dialogue space that is constructed on the ExpoTrade grounds and it is the meeting space for 100-120 grassroots, island, indigenous and community representatives and leaders who discuss topics such as traditional knowledge, access and benefit sharing, island biodiversity, and sustainable business and biodiversity, and a Declaration would be drafted to present into the official COP 8 proceedings. There are also cultural and social programming at the Taba, as well as a Global-Local Leaders dialogue which brings together high-level politicians or development practitioners with the representatives working on the ground to debate and dialogue on pertinent themes related to biodiversity and sustainable development.
