Contratenor
Yesterday, Sid and I went to the first of a series of six concerts sponsered by Bank Boston. This series are as follows:
May 23
Daniel Taylor (Contratenor), Julian Wachner (Piano), Sylvian Bergeron (Lute or Alude in Portuguese) and Marie-Eve Munger (Saprano)
June 30
Marie Luise Neunecker (Trompet), Antje Weithass (Violin), Silke Avenhaus (Piano)
August 1
Quarteto Parisii (String), Romain Guyot (Clarinet)
August 29
Regis Paquier (Violin), Michael Haran, Emmanuel Strosser (Piano) and Solistas Interarte (String)
September 26
String Quartet from Leipzig
October 24
Ilya Gringolts playing Bach (Violin)
I wanted to go the concert because I wanted to support Canadians. I had to say that I didn't know what to expect since there were minimal information from the ticket office. But Sid and I went anyways since we haven't been to a concert for sometime.
Seats- We didn't get very good seats- far right- wrong side for a concert with a piano.
Beginning- It was quite overwhelming to sit in a contratenor concert for the first time. It was so strange to hear a man singing notes that I could never reach. I wasn't too sure about staying for the whole concert (I know, I know, it's mean) but Daniel's powerful voice and his personality pulled me back to my seat and enjoyed the concert until the last minute. Bravo!!
The end-Marvallous performance which was really captivating.
There was one song that I like a lot. The lyrics were very powerful.

I will give my love an apple
I will give my love an apple without e'er a core;
I will give my love a dwelling without e'er a door;
I will give my love a palace wherein she may be,
And she may unock it without e'er a key.
My head is an apple without e'er a core,
My mind is a dwelling without e'er a door,
My heart is the palace wherein she may be,
And she may unlock it without e'er a key.

My next project- knitting
I went onto the internet today hoping to find something that I want to knit. My knitting is getting a bit rusted since I haven't knit for more than 8 years. So I spent about 2 hours on the internet (it is addictive!) and found this
.
Then I drove to the only yarn store that I know of and hoping to find some material for it. There are lots of selections... but almost all of them are 100% acrylic! After 30 minutes of trying to explan what I want, I finally got 70% acrylic and 30% wool. (R$5 per 100g, not bad)
